Who’s Teaching
The first names announced make this a seriously strong line-up:
- Guy Pratt, bassist with Pink Floyd and David Gilmour
- Peter Tiehuis, guitarist with the Metropole Orkest
- Alexandr Misko, the fingerstyle guitarist known for his percussive arrangements
- Jordy Sanger, guitarist with Nusantara Beat
- Bertolf, singer-songwriter and bluegrass specialist
- Mark Tuinstra, on African guitar styles
- Reinier Scheffer, live guitarist with BLØF
- Rinus Gerritsen and Jaimie van Hek, with a bass workshop as a duo
That’s a mix of styles you rarely get under one roof, from fingerstyle and jazz to African guitar and Dutch pop.
Brands on the Show Floor
More than 40 brands are expected, including Aristides, Boss, Martin, Eastman, Blackstar, Ortega, MXR, Lâg, Baton Rouge, Eko and Sterling by Music Man. It’s a great chance to try guitars, amps and pedals side by side, and to compare acoustic brands you might not find in one shop.
Why Go?
Most guitar shows are either about buying gear or about learning. Amsterdam Guitar Heaven does both. You can spend the morning trying amps and the afternoon in a workshop with a player whose records you know. And for anyone in Zandvoort, Haarlem or Amsterdam, it’s an easy trip by train or car, with no hotel needed.
Tips for Your Visit
- Plan your workshops. With several sessions running, check the schedule and pick your priorities.
- Bring headphones if you want to try modellers or pedals in a busy hall.
- Try before you buy. Shows are perfect for comparing gear in person. If you’re weighing up a modeller, our Quad Cortex Mini review is a good primer.
- Get your own guitar ready. If you’re bringing a guitar to a workshop, make sure it plays well and stays in tune. A GuitarBuddy setup in Zandvoort sorts the action, intonation and tuning in one go.
