There are guitar shows that try to cover everything, and then there are guitar shows that go deep on quality. The Montreux International Guitar Show is firmly in the second camp, and it’s all the better for it.
Now entering its fifth edition, MIGS has established itself as one of the most focused and prestigious guitar events in Europe. It is held inside the Casino Barrière in Montreux, right on the shores of Lake Geneva, which sets an appropriately beautiful stage for what goes on inside.
What Makes MIGS Different?
Unlike trade shows that accommodate all corners of the market, MIGS is explicitly curated around high-end boutique builders, rare instruments, and exceptional craftsmanship. The show brings together around 100 exhibitors from all over the world into roughly 1,000 square meters of exhibition space, making it dense and navigable rather than overwhelming.
You’ll find electric guitars, electro-acoustics, archtops, resonators, folk guitars, amplifiers, pedals, and accessories, but the emphasis is consistently on the rare, the handmade, and the exceptional. If you want to see instruments that simply do not appear in regular stores or at general music fairs, this is the place.
Master Classes and Concerts
MIGS runs a programme of master classes throughout the three days, given by artists who travel specifically for the event. These are not quick demonstrations but proper, seated sessions where you can learn something. Concerts are also part of the schedule, giving the show a cultural dimension beyond the commercial.
Opening Hours
Friday, April 24: 14:00 – 19:00
Saturday, April 25: 10:00 – 19:00
Sunday, April 26: 10:00 – 17:00
The shorter Friday opening is ideal for anyone who wants to arrive, get their bearings, and start conversations without the weekend crowd. Saturday is naturally the busiest day.

Who Is It For?
Players and collectors with a serious interest in boutique instruments and high-end lutherie. If your eyes light up at the sight of a hand-wound pickup or a figured maple top done exactly right, you’ll feel very at home here. The format rewards slower, more considered browsing, so budget your time accordingly.
